Chevrolet: blowing gauge fuse, amp circuit breaker, heater core

Question
Has anyone had a problem with the gauge fuse blowing? originally started when I changed the heater core, blew a couple then was o.k. for a few months.Started blowing fuses again a few days ago,Just the 20amp gauge fuse.Put a new fuse in and turned key to run position immediatly popped the fuse 10 + times,
jiggle wires under dash still does it.also when fuse is blown alternator does not charge,Truck will start and run but battery runs down quick.Dead short, but where?Right now I have a 20 amp circuit breaker in the fuse slot (mini fuses)Turn key on and it clicks on and off 3-4 times then gets quite hot, then I pull it out so it resets.I can't see any wires pinched or scraped in the heater core area.I now your area is camaros but I running out of things to check.

Answer
Its normal for the alternator not to charge the battery if the guages fuse blows. Its to keep people from turning their odometer off.

I'm not sure where your PCM is under the hood but in my Camaro its right beside the heater core in the engine bay. Probably a pinched wire in that area. Unfortunately its impossible to diagnose a short over the internet. You might have to bite the bullet and have a garage find it.
