Chevrolet: CHEVY CAM, chevy caprice, caprice classic brougham

Question
HELLO ROGER, THIS DEWONDI HAVE A 87 CHEVY CAPRICE CLASSIC BROUGHAM AND I AM REPLACING MY TIMING CHAIN, BUT THE PARTS GUY ASKED ME WHETHER I HAD A ROLLER CAM OR HYDRAULIC CAM.WHAT DO I TELL HIM,THANKS DEWOND.

Answer
Dewond;
HI  wel as the rollor cam should have larger or colored rocker arms,and the timming chain would be doubbl tooth and the push rods should have a twin guard to keep them in line and as far as the lifters if you take one out and try to sqeeze it together it should go a little bit.and if you had a solid lifter cam it should be ticking away big time as it would need adjusting every few weeks. if you need to go to the library and you can see some photod in the tech books.
and as far as the chain I hope that you replace the sprocket and gear also you can get a kit with all 3 parts.
and the rolor cam it will have wheels at the end of thr push rod.
