Chevrolet: 1997 chevy venture brakes, chevy venture, flase

Question
I'm due for new brakes, but as of yet having no problems with them, but starting about two months ago I had my ABS & traction control system lights come on randomly while driving.  When I shut the engine off they are gone, and won't reappear for a few weeks.
Since we normally do our own brakes I'm concerned about these two light both relating to the brakes.  My manual (helpful as it is) suggests I may need service.  Is this something we can handle, or will I need professional service?

HI well if the light is comming on and off it is telling you that some part or thing needs looking after. If you say that you need brakes it could be that the sensor is starting to warn you. If you replace the brakes the light  should not come on but if so   you might need some other part or they might just go away after you replace the brakes , at times it could take 50 miles or so before they go out. , and than it could be a flase  on. so you should be fine , but if it does come on and stay on get it checked with a OBD a.s.a.p.  as it could be some simple thing and if it is not looked after it could turn into big $$$$$   ok
