Chevrolet: heat, heater hoses, heater control valve

Question
if you know anything about heat control valves ,my question is, can i eliminate the valve and put a straight hose from my core to the rad and the same with the hose from the core to the block.this is in a 91 caprice classic. the reason im asking is i put a new heater core and thermostat in since then my heat gauge goea from low to about half all the time and theres not warm air like there was. some tell me air in lines but i dont think its circulating properlt through the valve gets warm air when you keep it idled up. any solutions would b appreciated thanx from cold pa,sask, can.

Hea- if the two hoses that go to the heater core both get hot than you must have something wrong with the inside controls under the dash, but if you have one hose hot and the second hose cool or just warm, than it could be the thermastat or if you have a heater control valve on one of the heater hoses than that is bad.  you should not have to go changing the heater hoses around you should find what it is and repair it , are the hoses hooked up right ?
