Chevrolet: Serpentine Belt, chevy lumina, pullys

Question
I have a 96 Chevy Lumina with the larger engine (3.4 I think). When it failed to start I had it towed to an auto electric shop.  They tried a couple of new starters and gave up saying the engine is locked up.  However I removed the belt and can manual turn the engine, but not the AC compressor.  I don't want the expense of getting the AC to work again.  Can I use a shorter Serpentine Belt to bypass the AC?

Answer
Steve; Hi  yes you can bypass the a/c but now that you took the belt off if you turned the moter over it might not run , you might have to get all of the pullys re set and timed. hope not.
if you put on a smaller belt,as long as it fits and the tension is good than you should be just fine.   ok >>.....>,
