Chevrolet: 65 chevelle, fly wheel, drive shaft

Question
I am looking to buy a classic chevelle (1965-71) and  I am finding that almost every one I see is automatic.  My question is how hard would a switch from auto to manual be, or do you think I sould wait it out to find the right car (I only have about 8500 to spend overall, less if possible).  Also, If I were to switch transmitions, what one would you suggest?

Answer
Jay;
HI - i would rather have a 4 speed also. if you wanted to switch, you would have to get a new bell housing,fly wheel,pressure plate,clutch  set up, tranny. shifter drive shaft ? , than you will also have to get a clutch / brake pedal set up. and the arm welded to the frame. so it would cost a bit and some work on top of it.you should wait till you find one  with  a stick . ok..>>
