Chevrolet: rim sizing, size rims, custom tire

I just recently bought a 2006 impala, and i've been looking for rims. This made me think as to which size rims I wanted. My question is, what is the biggest size rim you can put on that car without it rubbing on the wheelwells and without installing a lift kit?

   HI - I would ask at a custom tire/wheel shop , if you go replacing the sizes of the rim and tires as a lot do , you must also re-set the cars computer for thr tire and rim , if not it will throw everything off. I think at a good tire place that they should know about all of that stuff.  ok as far as me I would keep it the stock size rims. and go a bit  wider on the tires , and they will / , should know the with too. you do not wish to go too much on the larger sizes - it will change your suspension . and ride.
