Chevrolet: 2002 Tahoe shutting off while driving?, loose wire, gear shift

Question
About two weeks ago this happened while I was driving on the highway.  I was driving and there was a sudden loss in engine power and RPMs.  It came back up for a few seconds and then dropped to zero.  I still had full electrical power, but the engine died.  I coasted to a stop, placed the gear shift in park and the truck started right back up.  It has done it about 3-4 more times since then.  Each time...I just have to stop, place the truck in park and it will start up again.
I have determined that it does it primarily when accelerating.  I've also noticed that my truck doesn't have the same get up and go as it used to.  Could this be an issue with the fuel filter?  I've had the truck for about 2 years and this is the first bit of trouble I've had.

HI - the truck should still be under warranty . I would take it in to the dealer for a check up on the computer .
it could be a loose wire or a sensor going bad , but if it is still covered I would call and take it back.  they can check to see what codes come up if any and tell you what it is.  ok
