Chevrolet: 99 silverado engine interchange, chevy silverado, good shape

i have a 1999 chevy silverado reg cab short bed 4x4 auto trans its got a 4.3l v6 right now and i was wondering if a 5.3l or mabe a 4.8l might bolt up i have $3,500 to spend if it will work will that be enough money?  thanks chris

  Hi - well the Silverado 1999-2007 is about the same in the engine area, up to a 6.0 will fit, the only thing you might have to do is get the mounts , also rad, schrowd, . if you can find a truck that was hit in the back or the side and with the motor and tranny in good shape , try to find a deal like that at a junk yard,than you will have everything you would need.
