Chevrolet: interchangeable engines, chevy cavalier, chevy celebrity

Question
I have a 1989 chevy cavalier with a 2.0 engine that needs to be replaced . Would a 1986 chevy celebrity engine 2.5 interchange? all fuel injection

        I do not know of any cars that have had it done to them but the 86-88 do have a 2.8l engine so I would say it would fit as long as the mounts are the same and you can look at both engins and should tell by looking. ok I only wonder what it would do to the fed. inspection stats. it will read differnt and than the on board computer will have to be re-set for that engine. that is a must or it might not run proper and will never pass the em. sys. test.. ok
I would try to stay with the same motor   ok.
