Chevrolet: 1981 camaro, small screws, older cars

Question
the wire is currently hooked up, how do I adjust the carb?

Answer
Jeff;
 OK well  first  stand with your feet apart and jump around - no only kidding. OK well I do not know what carb you have but if a 4bbl. there should be two small screws on the lower front of the carb. if yes - first  turn the right one in slowly till it stops - this will or should cause the engine to allmost stall nbw turn it back out apx. 1 1/2 turns or till it sounds good. at apx. 1 1/2 turns out from all the way in. and now do the same with the left adj. screw. ok all the way in than back out till it sounds good or 1 1/2 turns it could go a bit more if it needs to. but no more than 2 turns as it might be to much. and than with the idle screw you can set that at what ever you want it is the adj. screw on the drivers side that sets the idle. ok.  get back to me ok . if it is a six (6) cyld. well  you just turn in the one screw and back it out till it sounds clear or till you get the best performance out of it. and be carefull not to strip the screws as they are brass or soft and to not bend or tighten then to much you have to be carefull with them ok.  good luck also when was the last time it was timed/points/cond/rotor/cap/wires/plugs/etc. as the older cars must be kept up with those parts to run good.   ok
