Chevrolet: 1986 chevy S10 PU cranks/wont start, spark plug wires, chevy s10

Question
Hi Roger,

I replaced the valve cover gaskets on this truck , in doing so I had to disconnect and remove the coil among other wires. When I was done the truck started but it back fired and idled like it was missing. I checked the spark plug wires. I pulled one wire off the spark plug and it tore off. I replaced the wires and now the truck cranks but doesn't start. Roger I know that this road could lead to many diagnostic ventures, Can you help me with any insight? Could it be the coil, wrong wire firing order? The distributor cap is fairly new. Respectfully , Michael

Well , i guess that you have something crossed or hooked up wrong. so first i would check all plug wires. and than check each thing that you touched one at a time, as you do not wish to get everything all wrong. so i would start and trace all of the wires and coil wires. / if the fireing order was wrong it would pop-back fire etc. if you did not remove the dist. cap than that should be fine - so go from there , do not open the cap.if it was not touched- just take your time and trace the wires  the way that they look like they should go ok, you must have a wire on wrong, it will start again. ok  rw
