Chevrolet: 1999 lumina brake lights, turn signal switch, brake switch

Question
hey roger,

i have recently lost my brake lights, and strictly my brake lights, not hte one in the window, but the primary lights. well, after multiple tests and what not, and replacing the brake switch, i came to the conclusion that the turn signal switch, inside the driving column was in need of replacement. after taking apart teh column and getting the switch out nad replacing it, and 5 hours later, the brake lights worked. the turn signal switch was in need of replacement, not the brake lights. please inform the other 1999 lumina owners with the same question about this. IT IS NOT THE LIGHTS, believe me, its the turn signal switch in the column. the switch is about 50 bucks and the owner needs to rent or buy special tools to do the job. total, doing it yourself costs about 100 bucks. thank you. -joe

Answer
OK  Joe I will note that . and THANKS
as far as the brake lights if the trouble  in the switch was in the same wireing as the brakes it can or could have caused yours to go out but that is a first for me.
Iam glad you have them working ! and good for you !
