Chevrolet: 1998 chevy Malibu, chevy malibu, shift assembly

Hello Roger,
My 1998 Malibu is an automatic trans.  When it gets cold outside my Wife says she has to warm it up for 20-30 min to go from park to drive.  The button will not push in to move the gear shift.  Help please. Thanks

           Wow there is something wrong thats for shure.
 I would say that there is something sticking or worn with the shift assembly or on / in the transm. I would take it to a trans. place when thay have a spl. on filter and fluid
service for 29.95 and than they can tell you what thay find.
If the trans. is working fine than it is  in the shift assembly as running it for 20-30 mins to warm up is not good at all.There could be a lot of things wrong from a 50 cent part up to  a major trans. job. but it sounds as if it is a broken or worn part in the shifting works ok. wish i could help you more but I would have to see it to tell . I would have it looked at soon as running it as is  might cause more trouble .
