Chevrolet: Gas and Overheating, overheating car, problum

Question
Car 1996 chevelot Cavalier 125,000 miles overheating several times changed waterpump and hoses, what to do now?
I smell gas when driving this vehicle also so what could be the probelm?

         I wonder if the thermastat is bad , it should be changed and the system should have been flushed when the water pump was done with that many miles on the motor.The rad cap could also be bad, I recomend that you have the cooling system pressure tested first to find the problum.This will show if you have a leak any place. And as far as the smell of gas that could be from a small leak or a drip so that too should be looked at because it could be dangerous if it is a gas leak and it catches on fire . OK
