Question -
I have 1997 Chevy Lumina Sedan 3.1.  I need to check and change the freeze plugs on the engine.  Where are they and how do I do that?

HEA STEVE;
       WOW, first of all, why do you wish to do that ?
as it is a big deal, in doing so to replace every one you have a major job ahead of you, and why would you want to do that any way, you are talking about some serious work.
why do you have to do this, get back to me ok.  Are you talking about some other plugs, or what is wrong ?

HI Steve ;
        OK just one plug is not bad but if you do not have to replace any / do not do so, and there is a plug that is made of a rubber type material, that is pushed into the hole and tighened up.And if the leak is not bad I myself would get a can of BARES STOP LEAK and put that in, that is a good brand and it will work well on small leaks.I do know of some guys that worked at G.M. and drove the new cars off the line and they said that they add it to the new cars that have small leaks, so it does work. ok TRY it what can you loose? and $600.00 is a lot for one plug but if it is in a hidden spot the labor will cost a lot.

Answer
Hi Steve
       Thats what I thought, as the plug is only a steel plug  and its cheep , but it is a lot of work to replace in some spots and yes you would have to remove the engine in some cases and when the plug is in  a hidden spot all of the parts covering it must be taken off so there is a lot of labor in doing so.Again I would try a can of stop leak it might help.
