Chevrolet: 2001 Chevy Malibu Timing chain, chevy malibu, chevy dealer

I have a Chevy Malibu 2001 with 82000 miles, V6 3100 engine,when I should change the timing chain and how much it will cost and how long  if I take the car to the shop.

Hi John;  
      I would do so now prior to it breaking on you than it would cost a lot more and a tow job also, I do not know how much total but it should run around $500.00 give or take.A good shop or dealer should do it in a day. I would go to a CHEVY dealer it might cost a bit more but it will be done right.
