Chevrolet: Thermostat, chevy k1500, temperature gage

Question
Hello,

My question is not a car question, but you can probably answer it anyhow.  I have a 1991 Chevy K1500 truck, and the temperature gage is not working.  I have removed the dash and checked the connection there, and everything seems to be ok.  I don't believe there is anything wrong with the thermostat either because the truck is not functioning out of the norm.  There is no indication of overheating, so I don't think the thermostat itself is stuck open or closed.  I was wondering if there's a relay or a valve or something I haven't checked to see if I can get this fixed.  Thanks for your time.

Answer
Hi Zach, in the early 90s gm was changing sensors almost every year, im not sure if it gets the temp signal from a temp sending unit or the temp sensor, so whatever one it has thats the most likely problem. You can buy a manuel from your local parts store, this will have all the information on your truck, its not very expensive and it will soon pay for itself in time saving advice. I
