Chevrolet: 1992 corvette fuel, high octane gas, corvette engine

hi keith, i just aquired a 1992 corvette, and it says use premium gas.  this vette has a big gas tank and i was wondering if i could use regular unleaded gas and add a bottle of octane booster if this would be ok.  if not, what's the worse it will do for the engine?  thankyou for your time and expertise, and God bless you, jon

Hi Jon, it will burn regular gas but a corvette engine is designed for high octane gas and octane boosters are not worth the money. What you will save by buying regular gas you will spend in injector cleaning. In the long run it is better to pay a little extra and save yourself the hassle of frequent expensive tuneups.
