Chevrolet: 1991 chevy corsica, 1991 chevy corsica, high pressure hoses

Question
I noticed my corsica was leaking anti freeze. From what I can tell there are two hoses in the middle of the motor by the firewall leaking. I suspect heater hoses. The parts store say there is only one hose. But these hoses have at one end fittings that look similer to high pressure hoses and the other end at the firewall have something like a u shape clamp. Is this right? Do I need special tools to work on this problem? These hoses attach to from what I can feel is a small pipe. Why these kinds of clamps and not standard hose clamps? Both hoses leaking at the same time is unreal but anything is possible right.

Answer
Hi Jerry, yes there are two hoses and they are for the heater. These types of clamps are designed with spring tension so when the hose heats up and gets soft the clamp keeps getting tighter, the regular hose clampe stays the same size and tends to leak more often. There are special tools available, but a large pair pliers will work fine. Be careful when working on the hoses down by the firewall, the hoses thet stick out are made of plastic and are very fragile. I hope this helps you, if you need more info just let me know. Regards, Keith.
