Chevrolet: 96 Chevy Impala SS, chevy impala ss, amp fuse

Question
My interior lights will not shut down after the prescribed time. This problem has drained a new battery twice until it was discovered ,(car covered in garage). A mechanic suggested removing the pins in passenger doors to see if one was defective or dirty. The problem remains with all pins pulled.

The mechanic was told by an associate that worked on Chevy's that it might be a "dome courtesy relay " I tried looking thru the electical section in a Haynes Manual # 24046 Chapter 12-26. I found a layout that appeared to confirm the mechanics suggestion.
I have no idea where it is located. I called my local dealer parts people and they didn't know where or what it could be. They offered more names ,dome courtesy relay , interior lamp relay ,but no solution.
The only way i can stop this problem from draining the battery is to pull the 15 amp fuse from #34 slot. I'm running out of options.

Suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Answer
Hi Mike, I think your friend may be right, the dome light relay. But first did you try the the dome light switch inside the car, unplug it and see if the light goes out. Its been 9 years since i worked on gm cars I cant remember where it is, but if you went to your local gm dealer im sure they would give you a photo copy of the component locator from the gm manuel. I hope this helps you, if you need more info just let me know. Regards, Keith.
