Chevrolet: 93 BuickLeSabre, fuel filter?, galloping horse, gas tank

Question
Car shuts down while driving, have to put in Nuetral, restart, and then back in drive. While driving, accelerates, then cuts out completely, then accelerates, then cuts out. I'ts like repeated thrusting forward, you feel like you're on a galloping horse. Everybody says its the fuel filter, but they say that it's inside the gas tank and difficult to change. Can't afford a shop. Also dies at stop lights and has to be restarted at every stop. Seems to get worse the longer the car runs. Any suggestion, instructions, pictures, would be greatly appreciated. FYI: Brand new engine put in last summer after car sat in driveway for 2 years. Don't know if fuel filter ever changed.

Answer
Hi, You can change the fuel filter, its fairly easy and its not inside the tank. Its underneath the car close to the fuel tank(the fuel pump is in the tank). After you change the fuel filter, have the fuel pressure checked. Let me know what you find. Does your car idle first when you start it without putting it in gear? Is this a recent problem or has it been this way since the new engine? Is the service engine soon light on? Good luck. Keith.
