Chevrolet: Blue smoke at idle, vette engine, chrome molly

Question
Recently had my 72 Vette engine (base 350) rebuilt by a professional.  It has all new parts (rings/pistons/bearings/etc.) and has a roller cam and lifters.  It has a edelbrock intake/carb.  On idle it pumps blue smoke like the valve seals/guides are bad - all new.  I can lean the carb out until the engine chokes and the smoke clears out, naturally it stumbles on takeoff at that point.  I have a new fuel pump and the pressure is at 6 PSI.  I thought it was overfueling (washing oil off cyclinders - producing blue smoke).  I am now at a loss.  Not sure what else to look for or check at this point.
thanks for your help

Answer
I thought I sent u a reply, but  did you have new chrome molly piston rings put in it, if so thay do take some time to seat and with any re-built engine you must take it easy for the first 1000 miles so all parts can wear in right and i think the smoke might be from fuel, did you try a hotter plug and try going up with the timeing a lil. as with things like that some times you must find a happy medium ok
if you pull the plugs are they wet or white if white thats fuel and if wet try a hotter plug
