Chevrolet: Jump Starting, chev impala, jumper cables

Question
I have a 1982 Chev.Impala which was parked for about 1 month. It was running and starting fine when parked.I know the battery has gone down even jumped started a few times without any trouble.
Well things changed yesterday. My nephew tried to jump start it and hooked the jumper cables up "Backwards".Now when I open the door the dome light comes on but I notice the clock on the radio is not working anymore. I tried to jump it off correctly and now I don't even get a "click"? Nothing? Did he fry the battery maybe or are there any fuses I should check? What should I check or do?
Like I said..Before this I woud get a click then I could connect the jumper cables and start the car?
Thanks for any help!

I would try to charge the battery first and check every fuse and look for burnt wires by the altanator/starter and battery wires. than try to give it a jump start and see what happens as he could have done nothing or he could have fried a dew things. so try the battery jump first ok
