   I hope I can remember what you asked.
I think it was the door right. i never heard of the door with having to have the vin.# the body shops don't do that stuff , all  they do is get a new door and replace it, the vin# should be on a lil plate that is on the  door and it is the same # that is on the dash under the driver side window.If your door was fixed you should see new paint or smmething to show you that it was your old door.Look where it was hit and you should see if it was yours , as I dont know how a new pin the same as you had can be put on it as the vin comes from the factory where the cars are made.I think that the story you were told was mixed up or not all the truth.
