Chevrolet: tachometer, chevrolet camaro, speedmeter

i have a 1991 CHEVROLET CAMARO RS
8 Cylinders 305 E 5.0L TBI its auto when im driving the tachometer hits the 500 600 goes up high does that meen my trans is on the way out it drives great but when im starting out i think when i go from 1st to 2  at 35 it hastating  a little but my speedmeter does not shoot up like when the trans is going  could it be the plugs it has 112000 its not that fast anymore from the start, the plugs  could be  one year old or 2000 mi on them  thanks scott for any help

       Hea, I would take a look at the tranny fluid, if it is brown or if it smells funny change it and tranny filter, that will help , and check the plugs if not bad just clean them, than see if it makes a diff.
