Chevrolet: Service engine light soon, chevy venture van, oil filter service

Question
Hi, Thank you very much to answer my question. My car was regularly maintained. The last oil change was 1 month ago. At that time, the service tech. told me the water pump and manifold leak. I took the car to check and you're right, the engine light was on because the gas cap not tight. Also I replaced the water pump. The only thing I didn't do is manifold leak. It is very expansive if I had it done. So what kind of consequence i have not to have the manifold leak fixed right away? Is there any easy way to do it? I heared there is some kind of sealant can be added in the radiator to stop the leak. What kind of sealant I should buy if it'll work. Thanks.

Happy New Year!

I have a 1999 Chevy. Venture van. The 'Service Engine Light Soon' light was on. One month before the light on, I was told the water pump and the intake manifold might leak. The coolant level was also low now. Do you think the 'Service Engine Light' on has something to do with that problem? Does the light would off if just add the coolant? Do I need to take the car to the shop right away? Thanks,

Wiseley

hi,
I do not know who told you your water pump and intake
manifold might leak,  that makes no sence, as you must have something wrong for that to be on, was it overheating real bad?
the service light does come on for lots of reasons such as a oil change , or tune up, or filter change, etc. but with a water leak you would be loosing water and overheating and it would only get worse, so if not I think that you need a oil/filter service, as if the oil filter is bad / dirty the light will come on as I have a 1999 chevy silverado and my light was comming on when I started it up  so after a min it would go out , but I just changed it two days ago and the light will still go on for 2 or 3 sec . at starting up the motor.if the light stays on at (ALL) times you do have something wrong  so if  it  does when was your last oil change ? ,but on some models if the gas cap is not on right it  will even cause the samething. I almost forgot if the coolant level is low the light will show up as ( low coolent )not service engine . when was the last tune up ? as a lot of the time it is something small. or not that much to fix.

Answer
hi again,
I'AM SO GLAD THAT IT WAS ONLY THE GAS CAP AS THE REPAIR SHOPS CAN AND WILL TELL YOU THAT YOU NEED THIS AND THAT AND RUN UP A BILL FOR $500.00 OR MORE FOR A GAS CAP.ETC.
WHEN YOU SAY  MANIFOLD WHAT AND WHERE , IF IT IS THE WATEROR GAS , EX. I THINK YOU ARE SPEAKING OF THE WATER RIGHT ? YOU MUST HAVE A LEAK OR THERE WOULD BE NO OTHER REASON TO REPLACE IT.  AND YES YOU COULD USE THE ADDATIVE TO THE RADEATOR , AS THEY USE TO DO IT HERE AT THE OLD G.M. PLANT ON THE NEW CARS COMMING OFF THE LINE IF IT HAD A SMALL LEAK, BUT YOU MUST USE IT AS IT TELLS YOU ON THE CAN, AND USE THE BRAND NAME (BARRS) AS IT IS A THICK BROWN GOOK WITH LIL PELLETS IN IT. IT CAN NOT HURT AS ALL IT CAN DO IS SAVE YOU A LOT OF CASH $$$$$ IF IT IS SOME THING ELSE PLEASE E-MAIL ME AGAIN OK.
