Chevrolet: Chevrolet Anti theft light, lock cylinder, cavalier coupe

Question
I have a 96 cavalier coupe with a 2.2 and an automatic.  The theft light has intermittently came on as the vehicle was driven about four times during the past week.  I had installed a remote start device in this vehicle about a year and a half ago, which involved splicing into the three wires for the anti theft lock cylinder.  The remote start has been disabled for the last year because it popped its fuse twice in a row, and I didn't want to spend the entire day on my back again staring at the under side of the dash, so I just pulled the fuse. that was a year ago, and the theft light just started coming on last week, not during start-up, but while driving along.  I was under the impression that this system just verified lock cylinder rotation at the time of start up, and cut off the fuel if no rotation was detected.  My vehicle continued to run fine when the light came on, but I assumed that the splice into the wires for the lock cylinder was my problem.  I replaced the anti theft lock cylinder, and now the vehicle wont even start.....HELP!!!

Answer
First thing you need to do is to completely remove the remote start system and rewire everything the way that it was originally. You may get lucky and that will fix the problem. If not, at least everything will be back to the way it was supposed to be, and then it can be diagnosed.
