Chevrolet: Running HOT, coil hoses, chevy camaro

Question
I own a 1990 Chevy Camaro RS 350 with appx 155,000 miles on it.  I have owned this car for only about 2 1/2 years now.  Everything was fine for the first year just regular maintenance was needed.  For the last 6 Months I have had nothing but problems with mostly the car running WAY TOO HOT.  So far we have replaced the thermostat, cored the radiator and had it totally reworked by a radiator expert in town, replaced some of the old and worn hoses, and tryed to drain and remix the coolant/water mixture for the best results.
Some of these repairs would temporarily aid the car from running so hot, but then it would start again.
Since the beginning of December 2002 (when the colder weather came) I noticed that when I turned on my heater it would be cold air coming out sometimes and then all the sudden hot air and visa versa.  Today one of the 3-stem valves broke off and then we realized it had been leaking and actually 2 of the stems were old/rotted, so we replaced it?
Do you think that my heater problems/overheating problems could be caused by this valve? Or, should I still have my mechanic bypass the heater coil hoses until I can afford to have the heater coil replaced?
Thanks Erika

Answer
HI Erika. yes... it can be caused by the valve being broken.
The valve controls the thermosensor and fan switch too.
If the valve is broken, then it can allow higher air value in and inturn super heat the motor. It also control the 4 seasons air con..
Have you had a problem since replacing this valve?
