Dodge: 97 Dodge Ram 1500, dodge ram 1500, dodge dealer

Question
My son has a '97 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4.  No one can figure out what's wrong with it.  The check engine light was on so we took it to the first mechanic he changed the spark plugs and wires and when we came to pick it up, on the way home, it cut out and wouldn't drive, we had it towed back to him and he checked everything on it and said he could not figure it out, that everything on the truck seemed mechanically fine, but it was releasing fuel into the engine and making the spark plugs wet, but he didn't know why it was doing it and recommended we take it to the Dodge Dealer.  We did, they said that when they hooked it up to the computer it said it was the fuel pump, we called our mechanic and he said he didn't think that was it, but if they tried that we should ask for a guarantee that they wouldn't charge us if that wasn't it.
So we couldn't afford their price and another mechanic who teaches auto mechanics at the local school, who's a friend of a friend, said he would do it for a very low price, but when he got the truck and checked it out he said it was getting 50 lbs of pressure and it couldn't be the fuel pump. He would try to figure out the problem, after checking it over and saying he could find nothing wrong, we went ahead and had him try the fuel pump, that wasn't it.  He had a couple friends look at it, one who used to work at Dodge, and they both said it's got to be the computer.  We tried a computer from the junk yard and that didn't work either.  It's been over a month and now I'm at a complete loss and so is the mechanic and I don't know if I should take it to another mechanic that was recommended to me or use it for a planter!
Can you help?
Thanks,
Gayle

Gayle,
I'll check into this,i need to let another mechanic read this...i'll respond back shortly.RamMan

Gayle,
Sorry so late i had to get in touch with another mechanic. The ignition coil can cause a vehicle to stall.Have the guy that changed the fuel pump change the ignition coil and see if that fixes it.
