Dodge: Dodge Grand Caravan 1998, dodge grand caravan, vehicle history report

Question
I just bought a Dodge Grand Caravan 1998, 3.0,V6, and people keep telling me that this vehicle has a big problem with transmissions, that the transmission needs to be repair very often. Can you tell me if that's true and if these vehicles are a bad choice? Also, when I need to do a reverse on a cliff it stays like if a had the vehicle in neutral and won't do nothing. I'm very concern?  Thank you.

Answer
Did you buy the van new?Dodge did have some transmission issues. As far as very often depends on the transmission being serviced! They do not need to be serviced very often. As far as the reverse on a cliff please be more specific, are you talking about on an incline such as a small hill?I would start by checking the transmission fluid. On my Dodge truck it is hesitating the 2nd gear shift.I talked to the service guy at Dodge and was told that i needed to bring it in and have the computer reset to tell the transmission when to shift. Also if the van was purchased used it's always a good idea to run a vehicle history report or call a dealer service department and give them the vin number to run to see the repairs and problems that were repaired. Thanks and sorry for the long reply.Ram Man
