Dodge: Dodge Intrepid Service, dodge intrepid sxt, dodge intrepid

Question
I have a 2003 Dodge Intrepid SXT with 45,000 miles on it.  I am due for an oil change.  Recently, I was driving and my car started lurching and was non responsive when I hit the accelereator.  My orange emissions light came on.  After I pulled over, I re-started the car and couldn't get the RPM's above a certain limit, like 2k.  Basically, the car was responding like I got some bad, low grade gas.  I re-fueld and put a higher octane gas in the engine.  The car was driving fine but that orange light continues to stay on.  This was about 2 weeks ago.  Today, the same thing happened on the highway today.  I was climbing a hill and the engine just started coughing and shaking when I hit the gas.  I eased off and was able to drive home, but the car is acting funny.  Any ideas here?  Does it sound like a fuel filter?  Just trying to get a few ideas before I take it to the dealer for service.

Thanks.

Answer
You have a bad sensor, somewhere on the engine. Service is needed. Also you should never, add higher octang gas to the engine. It could damage the engine because higher octang burns hotter. If you think you have bad fuel add a bottle of heat to the fuel tank, when you fill up.. Ty
