Dodge: U Joint, dodge truck, pickup trucks

Question
I asked you guys what a u joint was and what it did the other day.  And you gave me a good answer.  Now my next question is about u joint on 4wd pickup.  Are there two u joints on them one for each axle.  Thank you

Answer
Hi Jason,

I'm guessing that you sent your question to a different expert as I have never answered any quesitons about drive shafts. If you still have the answer from the last question you may want to ask the original expert this follow up question to get the best answer.

By the way... I'm the Stealth expert and I don't know a whole lot about 4WD pickup trucks. Just as a potential answer there are usually 2 U-joints on every shaft. Each end usually has a U-joint as it connects to it's piece. (eg. there is a U-joint just before the differential and also on the other end that usually would be the transfer case) It is possible for a pickup truck to have a total of 6 u-joints : Transmission to transfer case (2), Transfer case to front axle (2) and Transfer case to rear axle (2).
I haven't a clue what you have but this may answer your question ... or not. If not feel free to find the dodge truck expert and ask this question again.
