Ford: fuel pump problems, ford f 150, inertia switch

Question
I have a 1989 Ford F-150 that stopped running for me. It ran fine then 5 minutes later it wouldn't turn over. I was told the fuel pump was bad so I began checking there. There was no power going to the fuel pump and it was in pretty rough shape so I purchased a new one. Installed the new one, still no power to it. I read that it could be a fuse or breaker, but I do not know where they are located. I havent had the truck long and there is no manual in it. Any ideas on where that is or what else might cause me to have no power to that pump? Thanks.

Answer

wiring
Hello,

I would start at the inertia switch (rollover switch) under the dash by the gas pedal.  There is an inset button on the top.  Push it in to reset.

When you turn the key on , you should have power at both wires of the inertia switch for a minute or so (1 in, 1 out to the pump)

If you dont have power here, go to the fuel pump relay (on the left front fender) and test for power there.

see attached.
