Ford: 1972 Ford F100 C Bushings, 1972 ford f100, 4x4 suspension

Question
Hi there-

I am in the process of restoring my 1972 Ford F100. The truck has a 6 inch lift. I bought a set of 7 degree polyurethane C bushings, and they just didn't want to go on. I finally used a clamp to get the housing close enough together to put the bolts back on. When I got it back together the bushings were warping out about a half an inch on each side of the housing. Something is not right here. Any help you could offer would be very much appreciated. Thank you for your time.

Answer
Hi,

If all the parts were well cleaned and a silcone type grease used for assembly, then there should be minimal bulging of the bushings.

Check with the supplier or the local 4x4 suspension shop if things still look poor.

You may also try the manufacturer. tehy often have a tech help line  (or online) and are nice guys to get help from.  Maybe send them a picture as well.
