Ford: f 150 engine removeal, engine wiring harness, seperate units

Question
the engine on my 1997 f 150 threw a rod so im pulling it out can i just un plug the engine wiring harness at the main fuse junction on the firewall and leave the rest plugged into the engine sensors and pull it out. also how dose the clutch fan come off the waterpump it doesn't seem to be attached to the belt pulley. do i need a special tool. and is it easyer to pull the engine and transmission all in one its a 2 wheel drive with a 4.2 v6

Answer
hi,

yes I believe the newer engines are disconnectable for the wiring.

For the fan, you will need to hold the pulley and turn the large nut. If the shroud says left hand thread , then it is, if not, then it is right hand tread.  There are special wrenches you can rent or buy, and some jobbers will have a loaner program.

As for the engine, it is easier to remove as 2 seperate units than 1
