Ford: door panel removal, coat hanger, pull handle

How do you get the door panel off if you cant open the door.  1999 Ford Explorer? Drivers door will not open from inside or out.

Hello.

While there is no manual that shows or explains interior dis assembly, I can tell you that all door panels are anchored at the interior pull handle for strength.

My 02 explorer has 3 screws at the lower edge of the door as well. There is a small snap-in panel at the inner handle, then the panel lifts.  It is easier if the window is down.

To make it a bit easier to work on, lower the window and carefully insert a plastic wedge between window and door and using a coat hanger and flashlight, try to release the latch and open the door.

After you get the panel off, look for the problem.  A seized latch or power lock actuator can cause both handle from working.
