Ford: 1996 Explorer idling fast then dropping off, coolant temp, transmission work

Question
I have a 1996 ford explorer V-8 5.0L AWD, I recently had the transmission rebuilt, when I got the vehicle home the engine started to idle fast when started (takes about 10-15 sec.to return to normal) then it tries to quit (rpm's drop to around 100 almost zero) then it comes back. Do you think it could have been from the transmission work? If not, what could cause this to occcur?

Answer
is there a check engine light on? Have you talked to the transmission shop about the problem? things to check are TPS Voltage, IAC motor, coolant temp sensor, and sir temp sensor... but first I would go to the repair shop and talk to them... if it was running normal before...
