Ford: TRUCK WONT START AFTER GETS HOT, ford f350, engine cranks

Question
QUESTION: HI, WE HAVE A 1995 FORD F350, 7.3 MOTER WITH POWER STROKE.  AFTER THE TRUCK GETS HOT,IT WILL NOT START.  WHEN IT IS COLD, CRANKS FINE, JUST AFTER IT GETS HOT, IT JUST WHINES.  WE CHANGED THE CYLINOID ON THE GLOW PLUGS,BUT IT IS STILL DOING THE SAME THING.  ANY HELP WILL BE APPRECIATED. THANKS, DAWN

ANSWER: Does the engine turn over when hot? or does the starter just make noise? I do not want to steer you in the wrong direction.

Regards

Jim

QUESTION: yes,it does turn over.  the only thing is when it gets hot, it just won't crank.  thanks dawn

Answer
Hi there Dawn. Well crank and turn over are the same things. I am going to assume that the engine cranks (turns over) when hot just wont run. If this is the case have your PCM codes read and see if there are any cam sensor codes in the memory. If that is the case you probably need a cam sensor. Now if the engine will not turn over when hot please check your connections on the starter and if they are good you most likely are looking at a starter. Hope this helps, Enjoy the long weekend
