Ford: Blown head gasket?, blown head gasket, coolant leak

Question
I have a 2001 Ford Taurus with a 3.0 Liter engine. When I was driving it the other day (at 75 MPH) it suddenly overheated in a matter of a few seconds, shut down, and was leaking coolant. I had it towed to a Firestone. The started it up and drove it into the garage. It was missing badly as they did. They assumed it had a coolant leak and did a pressure test. They did find a small leak in the reservoir, replaced it, and did another pressure test. This time they said coolant was leaking out around some of the spark plugs. They tried to start it again afterwards and couldn't get it started. They said it needs a new head gasket. It will not start, but the engine isn't seized as it rotates when trying to start it. What is your opinion? Does it sound like a blown head gasket, cracked head, or cracked block? The car is in good shape other than this problem.

Answer
Hi,

It is definitely a cylinder head problem for sure , one would have to disassemble the cylinder heads and remove them from the engine block and examine them for cracks, if you recently had the gaskets replaced than there is probably more issues there. Also check the engine block.

Thanks
