i just bought the car and the pervious owner did not tell me the keyless entry #. how to reprogram a keyless entry for a 1996 mercury sable "ls"

There is a compartment in the trunk on the rear driver's side. Looking forward, there is a white box with many wires runing into it. By removing and loosening screws, you can look at the side of this box facing the fender well. On this, in large print, is the five digit code needed to program the keypad.
