Ford: heater control valve, heater control valve, ford f 150

Question
i have a 1998 ford f-150. the heater control valve needs to be replaced. do i need to take it to a professional or is it something that i could do in the drive-way. i was told it is under the dash on the passenger side, but my question is, will i have to take out the whole dash to get to it ? also i have problems when i close my door, my interior light, and dinger continues to ding for extended periods of time. sometimes 2 minutes, and sometimes even 20 minutes. i found the fuse that controls it, but it also controls my wipers, so sometimes i have to deal with the dinging. is this just a sensor in the door that has gone bad, or is it deeper of a problem. any info will be useful. thank you dee

Answer
Dee,
Most of your dash will have to be removed in order to repair this. The Heater Control Valve is a big job, I would leave it to the pro Techs. As for the dinging, you could have a short inside the door, that controls the dinging. This is a electrical problem, which in turn will need to be repaired. I would schedule a appointment with your local mechanic... Ty
