Ford: 1996 Ford Thunderbird, ram air induction, lucas oil additive

Question
I have a 96 Thunderbird V-6 with 114000 mles. I bought the car new and have serviced it religiously. The only major repairs that I have had to do is replace the transmission when it had 800 miles and I had to have a ram air induction unit put on. The car runs like a new car, but It has started having oil pressure problems. Most of the time the oil pressure is fine, but other times it will fluctuate going up and down on its own. My wife and I took a business trip and driving on the interstate the oil pressure dropped to near nothing. I checked the oil and the level was fine. I started it back and had pressure, but it was reading low pressure. The next day the pressure was fine. I have flush the system with a flush additive, with no success. I have alsdo changed the oil sending unit. Still no change. I have been adding Lucas oil additive at oil changes since it started acting up. This seem to help. The car has started leaking a little oil. It appears to be around the rear seal. Do you have any idea what my oil pressure problem could be?

Answer
Sounds to me you may have a weak oil pump, expecially with the miles you have on the vehicle. I would quess, this would be the problem. Also if you have a start of a oil leak motor to transmission, you could have a rear mail seal leak. There are additives out there to stop the leak, but it wont last for long.. Hope this somewhat helps you... Ty..
