Ford: Ford F-150 fuel system, fuel pressure regulator, ford f 150

Question
Ken,
Last summer, I replaced a broken EGR tube on my 1990 Ford F-150 4x4. I had to remove the upper intake to do this. The engine is a 5.0 liter, fuel injected. Since I replaced it, I have very low fuel pressure. The engine will start, and run for half a minute or so, then it drops off and dies. After it dies, or is turned off, there is a sound from around the engine that I think is pressure backing off from somewhere. Although I haven't put a guage on the fuel rail, I've depressed the valve, and the gas runs out slowly, nowhere near the 30psi it is supposed to be. I have checked both fuel pumps, and they are good. I have replaced the rear tank, which leaked, and replaced the fuel filter and fuel pump relay. The front tank also has a leak, but its in the seam, and only leaks if it is more than 1/2 full. I thought at first that I had missed an electrical connection or vacuum hose, but if so, I can't find it. Is there a fuel pressure sensor, or regulator on this model, or is the problem somewhere else? I hope you can help me, because I've exausted all the possibilities I can think of, and all the advice I've been given by others.
Thanks,
Elroy

Answer
Elroy,

It sounds like your fuel pressure regulator is bad. It is located on your fuel rail on the driver's side back by the firewall on the intake manifold. It is round and hooked right on the fuel rail. Hope that this helps and good luck.
