Ford: Ford Explorer, better bussiness buero, ford dealer

Question
Have a 2003 Explorer, Auto 4WD, 27000 miles. Blew out a tire and replaced the rear set.  Now I'm experiencing a strange pulsating humming sound and jerking during decelaration.  Ford Dealer said I screwed up something in driveline for having mismatched wheels.

The replaced wheels are the same model as the original.  They said the difference in diameter between new & old caused the problem.  Sensor thinks tires are spinning and constantly engaging 4WD, causing strain.

Now Ford is telling me they won't honor warranty until I buy 2 new tires, otherwise I'll just be back in a few months with the same problem.  These tires are almost $150 a piece.  Not only that, Ford is saying the vehicle may not be safe to drive in its current condition.  BUT the kicker, if this is a know condition, why did the dealer sell me the 2 tires to begin with and not mention it then?!?

Sounds like a line of crap.  Blow 1 tire and have to replace all 4?!?  IS THE EXPLAINATION PLAUSABLE, any opinion?

you didnt say how much difference in diameter.believe it or not if the tires are not close in diameter it will cause a sensor problem.if the original tire was a p-215-75 r-15 and you put on p-235 75-r-15 there is no problem.my point is you would have to go to extreme to cause what they said.i would go to walmart and buy the size they say for half the price, and tell them to honor warranty or ill see them in court.just call your local better bussiness buero and report them.bottom line they want you to buy their tires.hope this helps.
