have purchased a 2005 ranger pickup with 5 speed automatic trany. owned 98 ranger for 6-1/2 years with same trany. the 2005 does not preform the same way as the 98, seems more like a 4 speed. is there anyway to check for an indentifing number on the transmission to identify type? thanks.
Answer -
yes give the vin # and i'll run an oasis then i'll be able to tell you and then we could see if the # match what's on your trans

your trans # is either on the trans side cover or on top of the transfur case. Note: his vehicle is still cover under warr. i would go back to the dealer and let them take it for a road test to verfiy your problem.
