Ford: Ford Taurus, ford taurus, 1996 ford taurus

I have an interesting problem. It is of course intermittent. When I put my 1996 ford taurus sedan in gear, the radio shuts off, it's still on but nothing comes out of the speakers. Also, the power steering will go out. When you put the car back into either neutral or Park, both the radio and the power steering come back on?? Any suggestions? Thanks,Jim

look under the dash follow the steering column to the firewall you will see atthe base of the column a ring going around the column this is a ring sensor see if the wires came unpluged. and also see if there is any other wires loose there      let me know
