Ford: Fuel Pump, bosch fuel pump, excessive mileage

Question
Hi ragu

Re -

Ford duratorq engine 1998cc fuel pumps, (ford part number 1213937) for my transit van.

Would you agree that a well maintained Bosch fuel pump should last more than 70 thousand miles? Ford have said that they will not re - imburse the cost of the pump to me because 'wear and tear is the major factor'

However, Bosch Automotive Original Equipment Dept(Lee Duffy) says that 'You would expect a fuel pump to last much longer than this, easily 150K and that my 70k is not an excessive mileage' and 'Mine would be considered a very rare case!'
Callum Cameron from Feather Diesel Services, Ltd in Halifax say, 'A well maintained fuel pump should go way beyond 70k'

Many thanks for this,

Phil Curtis

Answer
Phil i agree complety but parts today are not what they use to be.they don't last like they use to.they are made in mexico, china ect.but the funny thing that i notice if it is made in USA they last 4ever.go figure.Try e-mailing bosch and see if they would replace it ?
