Ford: 98 Ford F-150 O/D light flashing and strange shifting, ford f 150, auto parts store

I have a 98 F-150 have to things I need answers for..

1. O/D light is flashing.. It starts after it is driven for a mile or so and stops flashing when truck is turned off.. It does not change the way truck shifts when it is flashing.. The first time it started flashing I checked tranny fluid and added about a cup and it stopped for several months.. Any suggestions..

2. The tranny will rev up on second gear and skip to fourth gear when it shifts.. It does not do it when I am pulling just when I am empty it does not happen often but it does it enough to cause concern.. Any suggestions..

Pete what i need for you to do is go to your auto parts store like auto zone and have them ck the comp. and see if you have any stored codes. let me know what they are . you may have either a internal or comp. problem with the trans. this way we could do a pinpoint test.
