Ford: Automatic Tranaxle Problem, automatic transaxle, ford tempo

Question
Hi Ragu,
I own a 1993 Ford Tempo, 2.3L, 3spd automatic transaxle. The car has had its transmission fluid replaced about 3 months ago, and am unsure if it every had been replaced before that. As i was driving home from college yesterday I noticed the gas pedal had gotten very stiff (it was hard to push)and the trasmission was shifting irregualrly (it seems to shift at improper times and very jerky). The gas pedal is not stiff when the car is off (it moves very easy with no resisitance) but as soon as the car is on, the pedal becomes very resistant. Also, driving it in 1st gear causes a whinning noise when you start to pick up speed, but shifting out of 1st gear stops the noise.

    Thank you for your time,

Answer
len what i need for you to do first is with the car running and in neutral ck the trans fluid see if its full and ck the color make sure its not brown in color.then go to the throttle body ck the throttle cable to make sure that in drive the motor mounts are not broken and are causeing the cable to bind.make sure you have someone in the car and you looking at the eng.now with the  emg. brake on and in gear on and off the gaa see if you feel the eng poping up if so there your problem.   let me know.    Good Luck
